WAITOA HIGHWAY BOARD.
Sib, — For the information and co-operation of Subscribers would you kindly insert the following letter dedicated to the Waitoa Highway Trustees :— Gentlemen, I beg leare* to lay before your notice that * considerable sum of money was roluntarily jubscribed in order to obtain a subsidy of some three hundred pounds from Government in order to exeoute certain specified works in your distriot, beginning at Waitukerruru bridge, extending to Kirikiriroa- district, near Hamilton. A»« subscriber and an interested individual, and as it interests your Board and will Bare your funds for other improTements, I would feel much obliged to be informed if the money hat been legally expended or inisuppropriatod, and why the works, which are Tery important, such as catting the gorge, shortening the road half a mile by the -old Maori track, are not completed. Further, are the parties entrusted responsible for the money and completion of •uch wo#k«. I would suggest to your Board to write the Superintendent for the fullest information, and also- of a copy of the works specified and to be done. I would ask, doei it meet the approbation of subscribers in haying their money spent on day's wages men, working Government stroke instead of contract P I would also urge on your Board the great necessity and boon you would confer on the district by opening up ' the new proposed road that would connect Hamilton and Cambridge vrith the Piako, within a radius of fifteen milei, and also of extending the distriot so as to include such useful operations. — I am, &o, An Intibxsted Sbbsoribkb.
