Auckland, Wednesday night. Commissioner Kemp has "received positive information of Winiata being near Te Kuiti. He is moving about from place to place, fearful of being given up, and awaiting Tawhiao's return. A native is endeavouring •to secure 'his -delivery to justice. There is no doubt -but the reported con. fession of Winiata, published in the " Cross " is a fabrication. Major Mairs name was unwarrantably mixed up in it.
