The chairman, Mr G. Moore, -stated that he "was proud to see the society in so flourishing a condition. The society had done an immense amount of goed in the past, and -would donbtless effect a still greater amount tof good in 'the future. He had one remark to toake, and in which he thought they would all agree, and that Was to propose a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Palmer, coupled with' the name of Mr Whitaker, for the many -kindnesses shown by them on all occasions. They had in many ways assisted the association in "allowing them the use "of ' their dheds, and alldwing them to erect fencing on their Writ for the purpose of exhibiting cattle, fie wo\ild 'alsto say that Palmer was instrumental in procuring them the ' excellent band that was in attendance oh the 'last, as well 'As on 'former ocoasions, 'lie would th6refore propose a hearty' v&te of thanks to those - gentlemen. — Mr AngoVe seconded the proposition, 'which was darried unanimously. He found One of thfcir rules had given the j committee great difficulty to decide. It •should be" be read, as he thought it better to have it now brought" before the meeting, so that 'a definite understanding could be ' come ' to. Rule ; That any animal taking first prize two years in succession 'shall v be ' dLjqtfilified." *Thi s rule, he'was sorry to say/ had not given satisfaction, and he hoptfd some gentleman would be kittd enough -to bring -forward a motion that would be the means tf extricating the committee ' from this -difficulty,— Moved by Mr C. Phillip*, and seconded by Mr W. Wilson, " That any animal taking first 1 prize two years in buccessionhi the highest claBS, shall be ' disqualified in that class."— Mr William Barton moved, as an amendment, " That all animals ' compete until beaten 'by •a ■'superior animal." — Seconded by Mr Angove, and carried. — Th« chairman ■tated that it 'had been suggested at the last annual dinner that the rule •naming the association eb at preseut should be altered, and v be called the Rodney Agricultural Association. This caiised a warm discussion, when it was decided that the name of the association shduld not be altered. — Mr C 'Philips said he thought the ShowVas held at the wrong titote od ihe ' year. When sheep were *o rectenlly shorn, it wfcs impossible to tell the 1 show of wool. If held some time in the m*6nth df November, cows wc-'uld be at their profit, beef would be in better condition, and the weather would be much more'suitable for^th'e exhibition 6f butter, &c.
