CRICKET.

A match was played on Saturday last or the ZiagcVri ground, Hamilton West, between tw> teams chosen from the locai knights of the willow. "One team consist ing of those players who&o names com menc'ed with letters in. the first half of the Alphabet, were captained by Mr A. E. Cox, and flic cithers from N to Z by Mr «T. Wood. The batting power of the €rst named was too much for the other, and a scoro of 143 was put together, of which number no less than 49 wore extras, the wides amounting" to IG, showing' a want of practice by at leftst one of tho bowlers. The second half of the Alphabet managed to get 93, of which 81 were extras. A very strong wind was blowing, to which most of the extras must be attributed, though the fielding on the whole was anyf* ling but steady. Wfe believe 'that the match is to be played out. but from the big lead the Ato L.'s have got (50) we think that 'the other side will not have much chance of coming off victorious. A match has been, arranged for Satuiday text, between eleven boys of Mr Davis' a school, Hamilton East, an 4 16 of Mr Danver's School, Hamilton West, and a good contest is looked for, the eleven being the 'favorites. The conquering match between the Zingari and the Frontier fnen is to take place on the Urst Saturday'in March at Te Awamufcii, and we fully expect to see a near thing aa the two 'teams are very equally matched. An Auckland team were expected up this seasbn. to show the country boys how to play cricket, but it looks as if they wore rather afraid to try conclusions off their own ground, notwithstanding the fact that they have ten players, to choose from for 'every one the Waikato possesses The following is the scotfe in the last match.
