R. M. COURT, NGARUAWAHIA,
YESTERDAY, (Before W. tf. Searaneke, Esq. R.M.) William Bibb was charged on the information of Charles Veith with having on the 24bh March 'ast, committed Larceny as a Bailee. The following evidence ' ■was adduced : Charles Veith. restaurant keeper, Ngaru.iwahia, deiKwed that on tho 24th March last, prisoner lured a horse frona him to go to Auckland, promising to return tho ani nal in five op six days from date of hitia^. At the expiration of that time pris mer aent witness word that he would not Ije back for a few days more, as business detained him in Auckland. Subse- • quently witness p^ave information to the police, aa the prisoner did not return the horse. Witness h.id h-jard from Cousta- ■ ble Gamble, at Otahuhu, that the horse •was «t that place. Witness went for the I horse *nd ultimately recovered it. • Henry Scr.nmaker, coach proprietor, Auckland, -stated that late in the month • of March Uat, prisoner went with witness in the 'bus' from Penrose to Otahuhu. ' Prisoner produced a horse which he stated belongol to him Witness bought the • horse°for j£s or X 6, he could not «wear as he had lost the receipt. Tho -^horse outside the Court was the hors© he • purchased from prisoner. This concluded the evidence. The prisoner, who reserved his defence, was fully committed to take his trial at • the next sitting of the Supreme Court in Auckland. The Coart then rose.
