In answer to a question fio<n Mr A Cot, Mr Vialou stated that heretofore there had been a commit'e' of fchrpp Mr X W Hammond proposed, and Mr A Cox seconded the nomination of Mr "Viulou as paruh Cnurchwarden. Tho motion was put to the meeting and carried unanimously. The Chairman ther. in bringing forward the question of appointing a vestry recommended that the number of veatry should be fixed at seven. Mr Vialou would bo sorry to throw obstacl«3 in the way of raamging the Church, but thought a quorum would not be obtaiued Hamilton too, ho thought, was not a parish and whs not in a position to be worked according to such rules. The Chairman showed by the Church regulations that the disti-ict mas entitled to appoint a vestry if it chose. Alter some little discussion, Mr A Cox moved and Mr Jdudnn seconded a rcsoluti m that a be appoints I m connection 'WithSt Peter'a rostry Church Hamilton. Carried up. mim >u ly. Tne question was raised whether communicants onlj sho.ild be elected. Th.i Chairaian thought it would not be advisable to ask each candidate if he was a communioant. Those who intended to become so should, he though*, be eligiblt. He thought the good sense of any one who did not intend to eointnunic ite would cause him to refuse election. Increased interest in Church matters would lead to the better obtervance of Cburch duties. Mr Waitt proposed and Mr Gumbie seconded, that the vestry should consist of ton members exclusive of the Churchwardens. The following gentlemen were nominated, viz : Messrs Gutnby, Ridler, Coates, N R Cot. Le Quesne, Gelling, Yon Stunner, G Nenle, Jollie, Hi-ncnon I, Beere, D ivis, Drß-ale, Hyde, A.Cgx, Hlhson, BawTeis and Waitt. Messrs Slater and Johnstone having been appointediscrutineers and a ballot, taken, th* f)llowing was the result :—: — Hyde, 2 ; Gu.nbj, 23 ;Drßeile, 14; Ridler, 19 ; XKCox, 21; Ooatea, '27 ; Le Quesne, 27; Gelling, 24 j Yon S'urmer, 33; Neale, 15, Hdmmond/23; Jolhe, 22 ; Bjere, 10; Kllisoi, 18; Danv rs, 12; A Cox, 29; D.ivis, 11 Messrs Yon Stunner, A Cox, Coatss, Le Q lesne, Gumby, Gelling, Hammond, Jollie, N X Cox, and Ri Her, we-e declared duly elected. Mr Vialou ttited that many complaints had been made of the dirty state of the seats in Church. Ordered ro be left to the vestry. Proposed by Mr Vialou and secouderl by Mr Coates that one half the sittings in the new Church be let. agreed to. Mr a. Cox^upn^rntulated the Chairman on the •iii'cess of the meeting. The Roy Mr Cnld^i said that since 1839 his ener^ie* had he n devoted to the Cnurch in England aid. elsewhere, and ho had noticed where th* chance was given him the working in in took an interest m Church management and the result inHumlton had proved the correctinss of his view*. With a vote of thauks to the Chairman the meeting separated.
