Sydney, January x 2. In consequence of the departure of the Ringarooma for New Zealand yeaterd.iy, there is only one day's later news. The Secretary to tho Philadelphia Commission, leaves on Friday, by the City of San Francisco for Philadelphia. The drought still continues as bad as ever and much distress is anticipated. Maize and Flour are rising in Melbourne. Elizabeth Bews, a married woman, committed suicide by cutting her throat at Hotham. She was of unsound mind. Captain Fermaner returned from Kings (Qy.) Straits, reports that a portion of the wreck of the Esti Black, has been found near Deal Idftnd. A search was made for the cnew without success. It is feared all have perished.
Brisbane. A fearful gale has ocourod at Gyrapie. The local Court-house, Varieties Theatre, Mid other were levelled with the ground, several other buildings damaged, and two lives wore lost.
