If it should be my lot to be the one on whom the honor of representing yon should fall, you maj depend upon my using whatever ability I may be gifted with for the general good and advancement of tho district, and in saying so, I do not ignore the claims of the Colony at large on every representative. Tn my opinion, the ouo can never be antagonistic to the other. If I should not be the honored one, I ■will bow. to tbo decision of the electors quite content in t\u belief that they have given their votes unbiassed by any other consideration than the honeit discharge of their duty.
