CAMBRIDGE. December 29, 1875.

Haymaking, which ha 9 been delayed (much to the detriment of (he hay) for this last fortnight, has commenced in earnest. Though there is very iittle hay utterly spoiled much is damaged, and rendered fit only for cattle feed. Other crops, howerer, hare been benefitted. The wheat and oats are looking exceedingly well, as also are the potatoes on the light lands ; many low lying fields hare been iaundated. Now that the water has subsided in the river, some idea of the damage done can be formed. The water literally swept away everything, tearing up the stringers of the wharf, and washing off all traces of the two stores. Great inconvenience was felt by consignees in taking delivery of their goods on Friday last, although Mr Neal had, with his usual ahcrity, erected a temporary store before the river had, by many feet, been reduced to its usual level. I understand that the Company intend replacing the stores as soon as possible. It is expected there will be a large attendance at the races on Saturday. There are three entries for the Handicap Hurdles, and four— not five, for the Cambridge Cup, now that Warwick is dead. The day's amusement will be held on the farm of Mr Taylor. — (Own Correspondent.)'
