That the waut of such a building is much felt is indisputable. The v people are at present en - tirely dependent for iccommodation upon the courtesy of the Officer Commanding the district, or of the Resident Magistrate, tfor the time being, of Waikato. The present -undertaking proposes to remedy thifr de^cienpy by providing a place where all classes aiid, section* of the community can meet for public purposes. The Government have beon applied to for a site for 'the proposed hall, and fcbere is little, doubt that the request will be acceded to. Th? cipital will consist of 500 shares, of £1 each, pnyable as follows :—ss: — 5s upon application, and 5s ea'h succeeding month. As soon as a sufficient number of -shares have been applied for, a meeting of the' shareholders wHI be convened, for the purpose- of elfoting officers and provisional directors, deciding «>pon the plan of the building, and other necessary preliminary matters. Applications for >sh ares can be nxvde to Mr Kennedy Hill, Victoria street, Hamilton.
