School teaching -under difficulties. — Without a- suitable building and appliairoea for the porpose.it is impossible.- for< t, echcolraestur to do ju-tice either to his pupils or -to him tilf, and none who h»ve*visited thebuiding set apart fir the purpose of a public schaol in Hamilton, but will admit that m this respect 'Mr Danverd has been oilled upon to make bricks without straw. Yet within the last week as many as eighty-five children have attended «choo), we areinformed, on the same day. Soaie time tince ii was resolved to set about the work of obtaining funds towarda the coat of the erection of a suit* able building, but very little, till quite recently, has been done in the matter. vr Mr Dangers, the master, has no* we understand receive! a pnoted form of subscription lists from the school cO'iu mirtee which 'he is au< horised ' by them to get filled up a$ quicklj as possible. „ If it is desired to have a proper and .statable building, the only way to do so, is for those interested, either directly in the une-of tbe eo)>ool by their children, or in tbe progress of the district, to subscribe liberally towards the required funds, and the amount 10 collected will, no dou^t be largely ■iub-udwed by the G-overnmeat. «/soiuetuing>a!sj J raiglit be done in the •nitter by getting up a public entertainment, wlieu each one of us would I have an op"i o # i unity of contributing our mite I towards the « enred object, and at the same tune ot receiving ba^k its value in the shape of an evening's* arm*! "orient • Something at-arij rate should be d Ui in the matter of securing a more decent looking arid suitably appointed building than fie one in use, which ircerUinly not un ornament to Hamilton, or a credit to the township, as one of it* public institutions. Db Cabb. — This well known lecturer gave the fir-t of hii phrenological and mesmeric p-ancs in this district at the fchool-room, Hamiltoa West last night. After a short lee uwon the use- f the scie cc of phrenology the doctor proceele 1 to examine the cruiiumof some seven or e<ght gentU-men who voiunttered to have their " bumps " read This created much uiiuih as the lecturer took no paiu» to varnLsh aver, the "little defects" of his su!>jeuts.
