ALEXANDRA.
The sale of Scott's stock &c, or his farm near Te Kori, on Saturday last, was very largely attendee! by settlers from all parts of the district. Mr Kennedy Hill was the auctioneer, and all stock realised good prices. Scott who escaped from the -Police after being arrested on a charge of cattle stealing has not -since been heard of, the wonder is to every one, present at the sale how he escaped so easily, all being ■ clear round the house, ithere is a very sore feeling on the subject by many -settlers who have cattle missing. I have made enquiries as to the proposed visit of Sir* George <Grey to Tawhiao at Hikurangi, but pan learn nothing definite on the subject. That the natives are anxious that the meeting should take place, ihere is no doubtf*ut as yet no time has been Mxe'd. Ta Tawhiao'Shprojected^visit to all the Waikato settlements, as reported in the " Herald," is an affair that was to eventuate anytime these last three years. The •young ifellow would only be, too glad to be lionised by 'the Pakeha, and has long pleaded for the trip but as yet his " stern patient" has denied him permission. Tawhiao with his own people and Ngatihaua are now at Hikurangi planting. — (Own Correspondent,) No^embm- ~'2 } 1875
