SPECIAL TELEGRAM. (From our own Correspondent.)
Noaruawahia, Wednesday. , A lad, aged 16, has been arrested on a charge of indecent assault on a girl of 10 years of age. The body of Allred Brown has been recovered, and aa inquest will be- held to-morrow.
Auckland, Thursday evening. Messrs Firth, Morrin, and Whitaker waited on the Hon Dr Pollen to-day and
strongly urged the constructing of a road of sixty miles, connecting Cambridge with Taupo. They showed that this link would connect all the inland settlements, and thirty, out of the sixty miles required, were through good land. It would also furnish employment for the Armed Constabnlary. Dr PolWs answer leadi to the conclusion that the work witl be undertaken m far as the Niho-te-Kiore Bridge.
