"We draw the attention of our reader* to the adver* tisement by Mr Alfred Buckland in another column, announcing the sale on January 12th next, of 76 two-tooth Lincoln rams, from the flock of Thos. Russell, E»q, of Auckland, the progeny of rams imported direct from Messrs Pudding, Clarke, Kirkham, and Grafton, We understand that this sale will be the first of a regular series of annual sales of the same class of sheep, and that after the first, the sales will take place about the time of the year before shearing, so that purchasers may bee for themselves the quantity and quality of wool the sheep carry. The sires of the rams now advertised ' were purchased by Mr Thos Russell in England and cost extreme price*. There are no«v on the sea for Mr .Russell and Major Jackson, 50 two-tooth, selected from the flock of Mr Dudding, and as it has been arranged that they receive new blood each year from Eagland, they may expect to breed as good sheep of that class as are to be found in England, as probably they will carry more and better wool, the Waikato being particularly adapted by richness of soil and equability of climate for the pi o.luction oi lustrous wool. We underhand that it is not the intention of Messrs Russell and Jackson t@ offer any of the 76 rams for sale privately, prior to auction. The sheep advertised are now on Major Jackson*s farm, where they may be inspected at any time.
