A FLOWER.
The air <wa« filled with sunshine and with scent From the lusicous flowers, growing adown the rale ; Within th# cottage, in ft eick room pent Lay a «w*et child, her face warworn an<l pale. The BeaptVs seyth? drew nearer to her hed, 'A§**iUj fli>w> ihe lighj; w^.ieed hour* by. Sh\» Vld a rose, aighinn softly, »• s.fce said * 4 All Waute-u- flow ci« depart, th ii why not I? J ' "Aad then she turned her wejry head, Holding the red .rpse.in.ber pallid hand, " There is pain fa dying" ihe wid, "But joy in the otber'Jand." The swimmiug yapour did hu§h all noise, She heard not the clamour of the fsr-o'ff street, She only heard the larks' glad jubilant *oice And the hum of the b*M and the lambs sor- . ' row f||l bleat; Open fr*s the casement to the languid air, X Jlnd to the prying tionpyiuckle and rose, And th^y both whispered " Thou art nry fair Fad« with "»» wait not, for the winter * snows.
