HAN'S BRIDGE SITE.
,Bm^-The New Zealand Agricultural Society r/!*nUs'Aipliite r /!*nU5'Aipliite at their next meetiag to move on tria matter of the Publio Slaughter-house. The opinion it largely held that the »ite recently purchased at Onehungn, for this purpose, is altogether inconvenient aud one-sided, and that if a change from the present position at Newmarket is necessary, it should provide that business bo facilitated, not hindered. A position ia every respect suitable has been indicated at Han's neav Penrose, on land belonging to Government, adjoining.the railway line, and in clo3e proximity to the grazing districts. It may at first sight appear that this ia altog ther a butchers' question, but such ia not the fac% as the removal of the Slaughter-house will in all probability draw with it to the same locality the yards for tho weekly sales, and should Ouehunga be decided on, will involve aome milea-of extra-driving as compared with Han's Bridge, but the g^att superiority of thj litter site, consists in f ts being close to grass paddocks, which is a great desideratum to ihot e who Bendjstock from a distance, as well as to tho butchers who for either a longer or a shorter period have to provide kaep for their purchases. This subject particularly concerns the interests of Waikalo Bettlers, who, sending their stock by rail, will be enabled to put them on pasture for a, few hours, or a day previous to the sale, without tho depreciating effects of several miles of rough driving, also if *fc times a crowded Market renders it advisable that a settler should, hold for a week or so, he is here , within a very short distance of the needful accomodation. 1 tike the liberty of soliciting a space in your columns for th.ae few line;, in order that your attention and that of your numerous readers may be directed to this matter, as united action i 3 necessary to prevent the interests of tae breaders and graziers of this province being sacrificed. I am informed that a petition to tha Superintendent in favor of ths cite at llan'a Bridge is lively to bo adopted, and trust an opportunity will be given, that it may ba endorsed by the whole of the Waikatj settlers. — I am, &c, GK
