He is doing well. — Mr Beckham is ill in bed with bronchitis, contracted in the Waikato. — At a meeting of the Middle Star Gold Mining Company to-day, it was resolved to call an extraordinary meeting to .wind-up. — The Long Drive shews a. prosperous report for the year. The balance in hand is £1,703. — At a meeting of the Inverness Gold Mining Company, the report shewed a balance of <£521. — The Luttterworth passengers have had lively ' times amongst themselves. At the Police Court i tn-day, the mate and two sailors' were punished for assaults on passengers.

Mercer, Wednesday evening. An inquest was hel(l to-day on a man found in a swamp, and supposed to be the victim of a ruilwa} r accident. M<my people have examined the body, but none can identify i£. He is believed to ,be a Scotchman, about thirty years old. There is no evidence whatever ns to the manner of his death.

Tauranga, "Wednesday evening. Mr C. 0. Davis is seriously ill at Taupo. A petition against the natives voting is being numerously signed.
