KIHIKIHI. (From our own correspondent.) July 9 th 1875.

Seeing that you have not got sa correspondent from." tbis district I might use my f pen to help the Press, iha*t "the people's rights maintain, unawed by influen.be, and unbribed by gain." \\ This being my first literary attempt, before commencing I apologise by informing you that I can handle a spade better than a pen. Therefore, you will kindly dress up my letter, putting the big lelters, <fee. in the proper places. T will begin my widget of news. The winter season iVp to the pre*nt is considered a favourable one. cattle Ire fresh and healthy. The last draft 01. beef-cattle ttom this district have gone, and we need /scarcely expect any more fat cattle before Christmas. * Farmers should grow some root crop^. and save a I good stack of hay. They would be ableHo sell bpef * in August and September, when the price is highest. The small flocks of sheep in the districtwire well cared for, and I observe a goodly number Wof early, lambs. Lamb and mint sauce will be procurable in October. I Horses are not generally sufficiently caved for ; colta shonld get plenty of hay during the winter jmonths, if it is desired to properly mature the

bone and muscle. This in many cases is neglected. There is room for a good, heavy draught entire here this spring. There are few farmers that keep a pig, although a few years ago scarcely a settler had less than a hundred. Bacon is scarce. Sportsmen were pretty busy last week ; one gentleman very nearly made a good bag. For full particulars interview the auctioneer.
