jgHARLAND, AUCKLAND. OUR MAHUFACTUEERS. A WORD TO THE PUBLIC. * For some oonsiderab • t me past we have been engaged ire tbe manufactory of Proprietary Medicines and Specialitiesof Various kinds, to which we have drawn public attention, through the adfertiting columns of the various journals ofc the colony. The demand which has thus spruny up for our medicament*,. and the flattering enrominnis which have been pronounced upon their virtue*, clearly testify that our medieafi preparations are more delicately manipulated and contain* more subtle power khan similar remedies imported either from Great Britain,. France, or the United Stated of America. The marvellous success which has attended this our in~ fant enterprise has determined us on entering upon a stills larger field of operations, and to meet the demand wbichc is likely to be rnsda upon uC we hare^ concluded arrangeuienti for a reeptar~\npnJy of tUe jot material from the most famed hJroratQ^es^T the^rorld^ We aye pfoili^Ojftik owe esta^shmeut amongst thfrlocal industries Ufr ™/K\c\\ fcbc pudlie'Tnea of tbe colony havebeen ftgitatin^j/iWwTeral years psst, and we OMifldentljr appeal to our ftlliw-celonists for support, we onour parb ganrsateung tbV^ualifcj of our preparationst^Sd superior ■awr illstoat nesn it heir to.
The following is a list of medicines prepared at our laboratory. Shortland Street. SHAKLAND'S SUGAR COATED FAMILY OB ANTIBIUOUB PILLS. Are a safe and reliable remedy for Indigestion, Headache,, and Liver Complaints. They ensure a proper secretion of 1 bile and stimulate to* muscular fibres of the intestines by relieving congestion and diminishing mucous secretions,, thereby enabling the contents of the bowels, by moredirect contact, to excite peristaltic action and to restore enfeebled nervous energy. We claim a superiority over* other Aperient Pills, viz., that a dos« or two occasionally,. \ with proper regimen and diet, will keep the patient healthy cheerful, and will give energy and ton© to the syatenu Persons generally are most indiscreet in the use of medicines, and more especially in the use of Cathartics or Purging agents. It is a well-known fact that the indiscriminate^ use Of these purgative medicines in such quantities often develops latent weakness in the form of Hosmmorhoid* or Piki, and be it remembered that the remedies — blazoned all over the world a* curing eiery disease- too often lay the germs of disease, of wasting and diminished nervou* energy and gradual decay. The pills prepared by J. 0* Sharland, if taken for Indigestion or Irregularities of thaLiver, should be administered in doses one pill every alter* nate night for a week or two ; if as a purgative, two at bed time occasionally ; if an active purgative be indicated, a> saiine aperient should be taken early in the morning following the pills,— a SeldliU Pbirdar o» a third of an ounce of Epsom Salts in a little warm water. . !
