HAMILTON CHURCH MEETING.
I A meeting of the members or the Church of England was held yesterday in the church, Mr Cox in the chair. The meeting- was called for the purpose of deciding on the steps that should be adopted, in order to furnish sitting accommodation for the increasing- congregation, by either removing or adding to the building. The following telegram from the Secretary of the Standing Committee in Auckland was read: — "The Standing- Committee are willing to advance, on security of six bondsmen to be named, a sum equal to that actnally collected and paid to the Hamilton Committee towards the above object, other than the amount received from the sale of church site and building, To bear interest at 8 per cent, principal to be paid off yearly at the rate of 20 per cent, ou amount to be lent." There was a great deal of desultory conrersation, but the following resolutions were passed :—: — Proposed by Mr Vialou. aud seconded by Mr Le Quesne : " That the resolntion of last meeting, giving authority to the Church Committee to accept Mr Price's tender for the erection of a new church, be rescinded." Carried unanimously. Proposed by Mr Vialou and seconded by Mr Coates : tl That the Standing Committee be communicated with to the effect that the Church Committee are jaot it present able to accept the loan on the terms offered," Carried unanimously. Proposed by Mr Claude and seconded by Mr Graham : " That the Church Committee be instructed to ascertain the cost of removing present church buildingJWpd if desirable to remove it or sell it. "s|lhe^*>c^ds^o fejfcpplied to the erection of the proposed n%^dW;n." Carried unaniProposed by Mr Hanrtnond and seconded by Mr Engall : " That a Building Committee, consisting of Messrs Cox, Coates and Graham, be appointed, to advise with the Church Committee in the matter of the building of the proposed new church, and that the joint committee* have full power to act in all matters relating thereto." The subscription list is growing gradually. Mr Coates made an offer to give ,£2O if 19 other parishioners would do the same. A cheque for £5 towards the fund was received from MJTOHBLan^brid^e and Silver, proprietors A letten^alkcefcei^SiwiO^lessrs Langbridge and Silver ©faring to t^at for tfre purchase of the old church for the purpose of turning it into an office of the Waikato Times. The matter was left to the committee.
