A New Zealand- Gazette today convenes Parliament to meet for despatch of business on July 20th. The inquiry regarding the swindling race between Daybreak and Maori Weed, resulted in the disqualification of Baron, the trainer, and Kelly, the rider of Maori Weed. Mr A. E. Isaacs, the owner of Daybreak, is called upon to give an explanation, or retire from txie Jockey Club. Thomas Ike, a Maori, has been committed for trial on a charge of breaking into the house of Mr McDowell, settler of Mahurangi, during his absence at night. The evidence shewed an intention to commit an indecent assault on Mrs McDowell, when a neighbour came to her assistance. The Phoebe has arrived with the Suez mail. There is no sign of the Magregor from Sydney. The allowance made by the General Government to the province is not a special grant, as stated by the " Cross," but is £6000 out of the £40,000 advance', which formed the subject of a long telegraphic correspondfl||ce between Sir George Grey and Dr Pollen, the^brmer contending that it was due on v AIa!
