The Waikato Times. "OMNE SOLUM FORTI PATRIA" TUESDAY, APRIL 27, 1875.

We learn that a requisition to Mr George Jones to allow himself to be nominated for a seat in the Provincial Council is in course of signature. It has already received numerous autographs although it has only as yet been circulated in one settlement. "We are informed by Mr Jones that he is willing to take upon himself the duty of representing the district, provided a\ settler will not come foi*wai-d. He has neither time *nor inclination to canvas the district ; and, fusilier, it is unnecessary for him to do so, as by hie connection with this journal for three years he has fully explained his views on all political questions affecting this district. His intimate knowledge of the requirement of the Waikato cannot fail to make him a useful member. We have received the first number of a new I journal, the " Patea Mail," which <, miblished in Carlyle. It is very well got u and contains a good selectiou of local news. There is plenty of room for a paper in the district, and we cordially wish it success. "We are glad to learn that the Hamilton West Town Boaid has decided to put a wharf on their side of the river, at which it will be possible to ship and land goods at all seasons. This &as long been much wanted, great delay takes place dally, from want of proper facilities. We are informed that the Steam Company would erect a store on - the East side of the river if a wharf were erected. Mr Kennedy Hill will sell by auction this day at Cambridge, a very choice lot of well-bred cattle, belonging to Mr R. H. D. Ferguson. The usual weekly meeting x of thh " Hope of Waikato " lodge, 1.0. G.T., will be ITeld this evening, in the Independent Chapel^" ft
