ANOTHER FIRE IN AUCKLAND.
Auckland was troubled with another fire on Saturday night, doing damage to the extent of about two thousand pounds. The buildings destroyed consisted of five workshops, situate on the water's edge, Smaile's Point, at the foot of Albert street, and belonging to three shipbuilders, namely, Messrs Henderson and Spraggon, Mr D. Gonk, and Mr Armstrong To say that the Solid Rock Bitlis were nearly destroyed hy th-3 would appear at first sight to be an impossibility. It is nevertheless a fact that the dividing fence and several dressing rooms O'l the east and south side were burnt down. The origin of the lire, like the majority of the Auckland tires, is unknown, but is believed to have been caused by a careless smoker dropping a light. Fortunately a number on the stocks adjacent to the workshops were saved by the exertions of the fire brig ide and others. There is one thing remarkable about thil fire, and that is none of the insurance offices are ".uifeivrs, the owners of the property in question having li^eu pri.>f against the solicitations pf insurance agents. — "Herald."
