Auckland, 7.30. < The s.s. Wellington arrived to-day in the Mamtkau from the South. To-night's "Eihc" protests against questions between Orausretneu and Hibernians being imported into the City West electipn for a member of the Gren<>i\il Assembly. The nomination took place tod iv. Mr W. 0. Wilson, of the •» Heiakl," proposed Mr Patrick Dignan, seconded bv Mr J. T. Boy lan. Mr Cut proposed Mr J. M. Dargaville, seconded by MrSUnnus Joiips. The shew of hands were — for Dignan, 67 j for Dargaville, 45. A poll was demanded, which will take place on Wednesday next. The " Wellington Times " denohnce the mismanagement af railways as owing to the iow salaries paid and the men being overworked. Invercargil, Friday. Seven men were drowned to-day.
