Princs street, Auckland, March 11, 1875.

Sir, — I have the honor, as the representative of the Th;mres district; to call your attention to what I believe it is a great necessity, viz., the construction of a road fcietween the Thames' an <1 the Piako Rivers. The settlers on the Piako have already formed about thirteen miles of road towards Hamilton, but require the extension "of the road, as stated, between the Piako and Tham 8." The settlers have raised the sum of .£5OO for the purpose of the formation >f the required road ; but it seems tha.t £1500 is necessary, therefore a sum «.f iJIOOO will he wanted. It is not a big sum, and if you could grant the amount of £1000 it would be a great boon to settler.**, whilehe Ohinemuri district would have the advantage of obtaining cattle and produce from the Piako and Waikato districts. -I trust you will give this communication your.most favourable-consideration — I have the honor to be, sir, your most obe^ent ! servant, ~*'* Ch\rles O'Neill. To the Km. Dr. Pollen, 0 >lonial Secretary.
