Monday, The " Echo " this evening criticises unfavorably that portion of Sir G. Grey'p speech at the Thames* in which he refers to railways. Ihe Executive will resign after Sir G. Grey's election in order to give him an opportunity to select his own Executive. The Provincial Council will meet in live weeks. It is rumoured on good authority that Mr J. Sheehan will resign his seat in the Executive, and join Mr Henry Russell, of Hawke's Bay, as legal adviser to the Heretanga natives. Mr C. 0. Montrose writes denying the paragraph from the " Daily Telegraph," copied by you, which stated that he was dismissed from the Press Agency. He says lie Ijias a testimonial from Holt, expressing regret at his resignation. Shlaturin has been sentenced to seven days' imprisonment for interfering with Jeffrey in the execution of his duty. William Burns, a passenger by the Baron Aberdare, dialed with the larceny of a ring from a fellow passenger, was remanded. Charles McGinnis was serttenped to three months for larceny of £5. (Several of the Aberdare passengers, charged with broaching cargo, are remanded. In the District Court the trustees of Thorne v. H. Palmer; judgment went for defendant. G. Taylor v. Lundon; case adjourned. J. S. Blakey v. James Brogden : not concluded.
