We understand that it is purposed to publish a newspaper in the Maori language ; if judiciously worked it will without doubt effect much good, on the other hand, if its direction fulls to a man wanting in ability and honesty, it will prove a curse to both races. Much could be done by circulating amongst the natives a true statement of the relative positions of the two races ; at the present time they are too much led by their chiefs, whose interest it is, in order to maintain their power, to pervert facts. If Mr J. C. Davis is to edit the paper we have no fear for resu ts. We notice that the Hamilton Entertainment Committee advertise an entertainment for the 23rd inst. We anticipate a very large attendance-} ; the proceeds will ba applied to the piblic h<i!J.
