SHOCKING COLLISION ON THE NORTH BRITISH RAILWAY. SEVEN PASSENGERS INJURED.

On Saturday morning, about eight o'clock, a serious accident took place on the Morningside Branch of the North British Railway, about a mile from Bathgate. The points of a siding appear to have been left open by the pointsman, and a passenger train ran into the siding, coming into violent collision with a number of waggons, loaded with wood. Seven persons weie injured, includingthe guard of the passenger tiain, one women belonging to Bathgate seriously. Foitunately the driver noticed the mistake, and had pulled up the tiain considerably, or the damage would beve been more venous. The waggons were forced up upon a btone and wood bridge, which structuie was carried completely away. About a dozen wag gons were completely smashed. Theie was much destruction of plant, and the line was blocked. The engine of the passenger train was also tin own off the line. The pointsman will be apprehended on a chaige of culpable neglect of duty.
