Correspondence.
To the Editor of the Waikato tHtes. Sir, — I am not a racing individual, but I always understood that all horses entered by letter were admitted, providing such letter bore the postmark of closing day, although such letter might not be delivered for a day or two afterwards, but I believe our Waikato committee have rejected tln'ee entries for the handicap trotting luce, on ths plea that tl.e letters arrived too late. This I believe has caused some dissatisfaction, and of course loss of funds to the Waikato Turf Club. Surely it will be admitted that committees of race meetings should not be too stiff in rejecting entries. A race with seven starters certainly must be more of a success than a race with four btarters. Can the committee reconsider their decision, or, as trotting races are becoming popular, can a second trotting race be arranged for the coming meeting. — Yours, &c, A Backer of the Field. February 9th., 1875.
