Auckland, Friday. The Governor held a levee to-day; a hundred persons were present. At the meeting of the Agricultural society it was stated that a balance of £103 remained to the credit of the society after paying all the expenses of the show. A paper, by Calvert. on the foot and mouth disease stiongly advocating the appointment of a duly qualified cattle inspector took much discussion. Alexander Saunders reports : Sales — Bank of New Zealand, 3605. Buyers — City of London, 265 ; Bismark, 7s Gd ; Tokatea, 9s Gd. Sellers — South British, 50.5 ; Bright Smile, 50s; Caledonian, 10s.

Wellington, Friday. The races being postponed till to-morrow at 12 o'clock, owing to the heavy vnin ciusc.l intense dissatisfaction amongst the people, who hooted the stewards. O'Shea reports : Flour advanced 20s to 30s, £lito£U 10s; oatmeal, £25 10s to £26; oats, <£G 6s 3d ; hams, Is 4d ; bacon, Is 2d to Is 3d.

Wanganui, Friday, Freeman R. Jackson sold to-day — 100 sheep and 70 store cattle; ewes with lambs, in wool, from 17s to 355; hoggets, from lCs 6d to 27s 6d ; seventy two-tooth Lincoln rams sold at «£3 to £7 2s 6cl ; imported rams, £21. Cattle : Yeai-lings, £2 7s 6d ; two-year heifers, £3 4s 6d ; eighteen-month s steers, £4 2s 6d ; bullocks, £5 ; cows, £5 2s 6d. Cattle mostly bought for shipment. A good many buyers were present, but little competition, sheep not reaching satisfactory prices.
