THE BRIDGE AT HAMILTON.
The following letter contains tlio answer of tlio Minister cf Public Works to the petition of the settlers in reference to the building of abridge .it Hamilton, and has been forwarded to us for publication. Our comments upon it will be found in the leading column :—: —
Public Works Office, Wellington, 19th Nov , 1874 Sir, — I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of jour letter of the 27th October, covering n copy of certain roaolutions passed at a meeting held at Hamilton on the 15th of that month, requesting that a bridge may bo erected on the Wuikato at Hamilton, and in reply to inform you that the Government do not see their way to construct the bridge asked for, but that on completion of the bridgo at Xi-wcistle, the present punt, which is a very serviceable one shall be moved to Hamilton, wliero it is hoped it will answer all prosont purposes.— l have, &c, <i Edwahd Bjckaedhox.
