(To the Editor of the Waikato Times ) Sir, — Why has the Committee of tbo Christinas Sports left the Sculling race out of their programme for this year I Thase who happened to witness the rowing at Easter, will perhaps remember that the most exciting event of the day was the Scullers' race. 1 hope the committee will not think me intrusive if I suggest the ad usability of having tho race, if the tuiids \\ ill allow. Whi c writing oa the subject of Christmas sports, I cannot help thinking the committee would do well to conn' lie thtiuselvts more to athletics and less to horse racing ; while this hole-and-corner galloping of untrained hoises is persisted in, we can ntver hope to have racing worthy of the name, not to mention the cruelty ot the bystem ; much better to leave it to the Waikato lurf Club to get up good races for tho whole district. — I am, &c, Sport.
