There were heavy floods in Gi-cyfcown yesterday, from mid-day till ovoiiing. Yesterday the whole town was under water. A good deal of daniago Ims been done on the farms, one or two horses have been damaged, tho water is rising again this morning, but is not likely to rise much. Tho coach cannot got through Grey town. The s.s. Wai para, with Judge Richmond, tho Provincial Secretary and others from ' Hokit.ika, attempted the entrance , but took the ground on tho Noitb Spit. ( Tho passengers reached town at noon in a boat after undergoing great hardships. The vessel i'h still aslioro, her steering gear is injured. The cause of the accident was the fouling of the screw and the extinguishment of tho fires.
