The Government of New Zetland has announced its temporary withdrawal from the San Francisco and Singapore services. In the wool market prices arc well sustained. Scoured is maintaining a fiworable position. One hundred and My-six thousand bales sold. It is expected Unit present prices will cQutinuc till close of sales. The quotations for wheat are unchanged. TJiree lundred and forty-three 'bales of New Zealand flux has been offered, and the chief pai-t withdrawn. Holders ask from £19 to £20 per ton. The Torres Strait mail arrived off Townvillo on September 14, aud brings the following items of European news :—: — Disraeli has stated that Fiji will probably be annexed. Prince Leopold has been voted £15,000 per annum. Prince Astureas will probably bo proclaimed King of Spain. All Spain is declared in a state of siege. The P. and 0 Company have suitciklci cd £20,000 per annum of their subsidy for permission to run their steamers with the mails through the Suez Canal. The Duke of Richmond has givpn notice that he intends to forthwith abolish betting on the Goodwood course. New Zealand Fives — 104 to 105. The Carlists have 'suffered several more defeats. A terriblo railway collibion has taken place on the Great Eastern Railway. Nineteen killed and thirty wounded
