It is undei .stood that when Sir George Arney retires Mr Prendergast will be -made Chief Justice, and the Attorney-Generalship be offered to Mr Travers. After Mr Vogel concludes his business in Sydney respecting the electric telegraph cable, he will proceed to England. Sir James Fergusson. proceeds to Mavlborough in his yacht on Thursday, and from there he will go through the Sound to Nelson. The Post says that the judicial changes referred to in the previous telegrams will not be effected till early next year, and that the new Chief Justice and another judge will have their head-quarters in Wellington. The Hon Mr Vogel's family go to England with him. Christclmi'ch, Tuesday. The New Zealand Shipping Company have received the following advices : — London, 25th August. — Sailed : Star of India, and Hourah, for Wellington ; Waitangi, for Auckland ; Ocean Mail, for Nelson ; Maturua, for Dunedin ; Waitava, for Canterbury. Mr Eolleston, M.H.R., addresses his constituents in the Avon district on Thursday next. Mr Montgomery, M.11.R., addresses his constituents at Akaroa on Saturday next.
