•Saturday. The business before the House of Representatives to-day was merely formal, and the House adjourned till 2.30 p.m. on Monday, when P.irlLunent will be prorogued. The Public Works and Immigration Committee, to which the petition of certain immigrants, claiming exemption from the payment of their promissory notes to the Government, was referred, have reported, — that while it is expedient that individual cases of hardship arising from sickness or other exceptional causes should bo relieved by the extension of time of payment or otherwise, the committee see no reason to recommend any general release of the petitioners fiom their obligations.
