There was something like a free fight last night xipon Mr Gillies' motion ;is to how the million and a-half was distributed as concessions to prevent opposition to Public "Works Policy. A warm debate eilsued. Several members have taken the opportunity to review the whole policy, and upon the ."abolition of pun inccs. Ultimately the motion was negatived on the voices. The Government has passed a bill to advaiice £60,000 to Otago, to be expended as the Superintendent iind Executive may direct. The House then adjourned at 10.5 to 12.45 on Saturday.
