(To the Editor of theWAiKATO Tijiks.) Sir, — As an attempt is being made to form a Waikato Cricket Club, will you permit me to Suggest through your columns to those gentlemen in the different settlements who are fond of rowing that an etlort should he made to ' form .Rowing Clubs in their districts, so that crews can be sent to compete at our Easier Kegutta. The regatta" which was held here this year, taking into consideration that it was the first attempt that has been made at anything of the kind, was a great success ; but there was a great wnnt of variety in the crews, as several of our local oarsmen were compelled to pull in two of the racei in' order to fill up the entries. Or again, why not form a * Waikato Eowmg Club, and make the thing general, 10 that we may in time be able to send a representative crew to compete at the different Provincial Regattas ? I feel confident, judging from tho general interest that was taken in our late regatta, that there is a great deal of rowing talent in the Waikato \>hich only requires drawing out, and it is to bo regretted that this great national sport has hitherto been so much kept in the background in our district, whero we have ( two such splendid rivers for pulling upon — one of which is second to none in the' province. — I am, &c, Ak AmaletjbNgaruiwahia, August 17.
