An adjourned meeting of the N.Z.S.S. Co. was held this afternoon. Mr Brandon, on whose motion the last adjournment took place, did not appear, and ' the motion, of which notice had been given protest-, ing against the sale of the company's fleet, was allowed to lapse. The bteameis are therefore to be sold as advertised on the 31st inst. Information received from Taranaki this morning J states that as the cargo is got out of the Paterson she floats and shows that the damage done is a great deal less than was anticipated. It is expected she will be floated without difficulty. Christchurcb, Saturday. A public meeting was held last night when resolutions were unanimously passed endorsing the action of the City Council, in applying to the General Assembly for an Act making over the proceeds of the dog-tax, auctioneers', and public-house licenses to municipalities within whose boundaries they are collected.
