It is believed that a movement will bo proposed to recall him and give him a pension ; also, to send a number of travelling agents home w ith the new Agent-General.. It is also said a retiring pension to Chief Justice Arney and Judge Chapman Avill be proposed. Mr Grillics, of Otago, has given notice to ask for the production of the original telegrams and correspondence between Judge Ward and the Go veiaunent regarding Judge Chapman and the Olago Daily limes' telegrams. It is understood that thp Hon Mr Vogel is willing to produce tho origmats, but Mr Fox and other friends of Judge Ward will uso prcssuro to prevent this being clone. Mr Curtis has given notice of the Nelson Loan Bill fer £250,000. Tho other provinces will probably await the fate of this Bill before bringing on their own lain bills. To-day the usual Sessional Committee were appointed. The following Bills were read a first time : — Tho Inspection mid .Regulation of Machinery Bill, tho Offences Against the Person Amendment Bill, and the Justices of the Peace Amendment Bill. The Hon Mr Watcrhonse suggested that at the commencement of the Session all Bills should be in tho hands of lion members at least a week before the second reading. This was agreed to in the case of the three Bills named. The Council then adjourned.
