(To the Editor of the Waikato Times.)

Sfß, — One of the most desirable things for the succesifal growing of wheat is good seed, and it is also most essential that it should not be grown on the same soil two years in succession. The seed should be changed, and ewe should always be taken to pickle it properly. The best mode of doing so is- to- dissolve three onnces of Milestone- in three quarts of hot; water to every bushel of wheat ; first spread the wheat on a floor, then sprinkle the solution over it, turning over the wheat until it is all equally damp ; allow it to remain on the floor for twenty four hours, then it will be ready for sowing. Tins will prevant smut most elfectu- , ally, and I will bo willing- to supply at the Mill, any farmer with good seed in exchange for other wheat. IS i» well known that the Walkato can grow frrst-«lass wheat ; and it is of the greatest importnnce thai this district should grow enough wheab to supply the consumption of the district. I will alwaya bo happy to do-all in my power to accomplish this object, awl will at all times bo ready to give the highest market price for good wheat grown in the Wnikato. ROBERT LAMB. Ngnru&wabia Steam Flour-mill. Newcastle. 3d July. 1874.
