MEETING OF THE WAIKATO TURF CLUB.
Any adjourned meeting of the Waikato Turf Club was held at Harper's Hotel, Hamilton, on Tuesday last. The business before the meeting was to decide upon a suitable site for a course. About twentymembers were present. After the minutes of the last meeting had been read and confirmed, Mr Carpenter read the report of the committee appointed to make enquiries about the course. It appeared from the report that there were several sites which would be available on various terms. ' The most eligible offer, however, was from Messrs. Cox and Williamson, who generously agreed to let the Club whatever ground they required for the term of nine years at a nominal rental, and this was accepted unanimously .by the meeting. The course tq be under the absolute control of the Tuk£ €!lub for all racing and training pui"poses. It was resolved that Messrs Carpenter, Hammond, and Kirkwood ba Trustees for. the Club for the purpose of holding the land. The Committee was empowered' to make arrangements fbr putting the course in orderConsiderable discussion took place as to the advisability, of holding both a Spring and Autumn . meeting, but nothing definite was arrived at. The financial year begins on the first Monday in August. About one hundred subscribers ai» on the list, and £105 has been. paid..
