GREYMOUTH. Wednesday.
A fife occurred at Ptiroa, s>ix miles south of Uleymouth, at one o'clock this morning. It commenced in the premises occupied by O'Connor, an hotelkeeper. The office of the Koad Board and a private dwelling 1 have been totally destroyed ; three other buildings weru pulled down. A girl named Elizabeth Houghton, Hg»d twelve years, was burned to death; other residents were buaned in trying to escape. The case of the fire is at present unknown. Estimated loss £1,000. No insurance.
