ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.

Tub adjourned meeting of thii Society was held in the Museum Buildings at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon There were niesent — Mr .1 (_.' Firth (in tlie chair), Dr Campbell, the lion. James Williamson, Messrs J. Burtt, and J. Slatter. On the motion of the Hon. J. Williamson, it was resohed that 40 pairs of English patridges and 12'couples-of nightingales should be procured from England, and that the i e 'S m entrusted lo bring them, out should be offered a rewr.rd. for every bird he brought out on his own account. Als<" , on the motion of Mr Willi imsou, it was resolved that the • c -retary be insti ucted to write to Sydney to procure, if ] os-ohle, a number of swallows- and snipe from them. Mr Williamson enquised if anything had been heard of the plover which were introduced and liberated some time ago? Dr Campbell replied that they had been taken out to One 'free Hill and liberated. From the*e they had flown away, and it was not at present known where they had gone . Mr Bnrtt proposed, Dr Campbell seconded, and it was agreed to : " That each holder of a license to shoot be recognised as a mamber-of the Society, andthafc the secretary be instructed to furnish each with a copy of the annual report and balance sheet, and a ticket of membership for the current year." The monthly accounts were paat and ordered to be paid. The secretary acknowledged the receipt of three h«n pheasants (purchased)* a collection of pine seeds from the General Government, two plants of cordyline indivisa, and »ix seeds of quercus cerris (Turkey oak), from the secretary. Two hen pheasants and one cock pheasant were given to Mr T. B. Gilhrs ; one opossum had died ; and 150 pmvs insicnis were givjn to the Domain Board. This being all the business, the meeting separated.
