O.\ Tuesday oyoning, tbo 26th instant, in accordance ■ advertisement, the memberi of the Hamilton Institute in the room which Mr Knox has kindlj placed at the posal of the Institute since the fire. Colonel Ljon, President of the Institute, occupied chair, and mformed the members that they had tj take the financial state of the Institute into < sideration, as from the prolonged absence of Clarke, the late Secretary the Committee were un to say what state the fund, were in ; accounts were con in, but as Mr Clarke had the funds in his own hinds u f the present the comontteo had nothing with which to j nor did they know in what state the funds were, as til were no books to show, although he believed that a box J posed to contain books had been left by Mr Clarke *J Vidlou's. He was not aware that it contained the booU the Institute, nor could it be ascertained till proper 1 steps had been taken to get it opened. Till then he ho sometlnng would be done to keep the Institute moving, requested every member to itate what they thought 01 to be done m tho present crUis, as being burnt out and absence of the Secretary with the funds were both < serious matters. r?r W w fc ' I , en l unani ' raousI 7 resolved that the appointn , of Mr E. J Mr Haddock who had been acting for some time as h nan reported that several periodicals were arriving m dv cate-one copy from Mr Upton and the other from w fiy to. The Secretary wvs instructed to write to both these tleinen asking their accounts, add request Mr Upton to ward no more at present. The Secretary was also directed to insert (three times advertisement in the Waikato Times requesting all mem to pay their arrears and subscriptions to him as ear] possible. It was then resolved that a statement of accounts be 1 pared, to be laid before a general meeting, to be held o»l 30th June. I The Secretary was requested to get the book-case repal which had been damaged m removal at the time of the! as soon as possible. A vote of thanks was accorded to Mr KfAx ford gratuitous use of his room since the fire ; and witflU h*d Tote ol thanks to the President the meeting closed. 1
