Mr Shcclian, in answer to ll r Hinnlin, who informe<l the Government that increased wharf acc(Mntnodation was greatly needed at Onehunga, said an estimate had been made whioh amounted to £7000. That was, in the present financial position of the province, a largo sum, but the Government would do nil it could towards ropau-s and extension. Ho replied to a question by MrCheesman, that the Government did not mteud to bringdown a bill to release the wharf from the debt of £4000, and that before any action could be taken by the Government, the reserves must be conveyed to the Superintendent. Tbe clauses were agreed to upon a division — Ayes, 24 ; noes, 10. 3 His Honor's message, No 32, relating to the old Supreme Court site was considered, and a very long and animated debato ensued. It was resolved, on "a division of 22 to 7, that the property should bo made exclusively an educational endowment, and the disposition of the ground referred to a select committee.
