CORRESPONDENCE.

[We do not necessarily endorse tlis opinions expressed by our correspondents.]

(To the Editor of the Waikato Times.) J g IB| — Will you allow rae a very small space to correct any erroneous impressions which may have been made by i Mr Leslie's letter which appeared in your paper the other day. Mr L. says that the reason no amalgamation has taken place between the two Agricultural Associations m Waikato 19,. because one part of the district is in favour of a spring show and the other part desnes an autumn show. Now, I would like to ask Mr Leslie vhat means have betn used to ascertain the opinions of the settlers constituting either Association. With regard to the Central Waikato Association, I can state that the question has never been brought before it by the Waikato Association, with a view to arriving at a mutual understanding. On the other hand it will be remembered that when advances were made from Te Awarautu with the object of forming an union, those advances were, so far as we are atvare, tieated with silent contempt ;, and I will say plainly that as a body the Waikato Association has never shown any symptom of a desire to unite. Mr Leslie says, it is better to have no show at all than to have one at which on'y half of the district is represented. Why, Sir, that is just what we have been contending for all along. We consider that in Older to have the whole district represented, the show must be held in a central place — a place accessible to all ; but if we cannot have that, we consider it is best to have whit is within our reach, viz. , n, good local show, and mmy own humble opinion the patronage which, our late attempt received from the public showed that we were right. I have no desire to trespass upon your space or rake up old grievances, ao I will say no more, otherwise I might make a long story of it. — I am, &c. J. H. Mandeno. Te Awamutu, April 11, 1874.
