Thames, Saturday. The Moanatairi't fortnight's yield is 255 ozs of retorted gold. The Kuranuihave got 201 ozs gold from 141 tons stone. The Old Whau have mnde a further deposit of 367 ozs of «old, making the total yield for the month 4193 ozs j retorted gold. Last night a fine haul of 2 cwt picked stone and specimens were grassed from the hanging-wall which are carried forward to next month's crushing. The Queen of Beauty, for the fortnight's yield at Bull's battery, obtained 122 ozs 1 dwt retorted gold. Their own battery only started a few days ago, after extensive improvements and five new stampers The City of london have now 1 100 ozs of hard amalgam in hand. The new reef trial lot did not average above 5 dwts to the ton j -will continuo to develop it. The Manukau Company have 920 ozs hard amalgam for i 2 days' crushing with six stampers, and will probably increase the crushing power in a fow days, as there is fully 50 tons of stone in stock, and the output xs larger than the reduction. The Tookey Company (Lowe's tribute) crushed 16 tons for 12* ozs of gold. The Shotover tributers are cleaning up a 40-ton parcel, and expect about ? ozs per ton. The Windsor Castle Company have purchased the Christchurch Company's ground for £50. Market firm. Coromandel, Saturday. At the Coromandel Hall a meeting was held this afternoon for the purpose of presenting a testimonial to Dr Hovell. George McLeod was in the chair. Nineteen persons were present at first, but the meeting commenced gradually to swell up to fifty, and an address with 205 signatures was presented : also a purse containing 25 soys. The violent speech of Dr Hovell loses him many adherents. A requisition has been forwarded to Mr Cadman, member of the Provincial Council, for presentation to Capt. Palmer, of the steamer Murray, to run his boat to Cormandel.
Taurauga, Saturday. The Bay of Plenty Cavalry are to fire against the Poverty Bay Cavalry at an early date for £50 a Bide.
Wellington, Saturday. The Postmaster-General has authorised a testimonial valued at £50 for presentation to Captain Brown for bringing on the mail from Kandavu. The Hutt railway opens on tho 14tb, to run three trains a day.
New Plymouth, Saturday. The agent of tho N Z.S. Company has received notice tbat no core cargo will be brought by the itcamers of the company. The Herald says tbat such conduct is foolish, as Southern merchant! will tuffer, as the storekeepers will remove their trade, to Auckland, where other stearueri are obtainable.
Nelson, Saturday. News oftbe West Coast floods is to band by the Kennedy. At Kpefton, the Buller river rose tJurly feet in twelve hours, but no damage of importance resulted.
llokitika, Saturday. There has not been much of a flood. The .Alhninbra was not tendered, owing to tbo heavy fre»b and rough bar.
Grovmouth, Saturday. The wires are just up. Have been down for about a week. A fearful flood took place on Sunday and Monday last. It rained incessantly for forty hours. Tho whole town was inundated. Tho fine stone protection works stood a sevens test, and saved the town from utter destruction, It was the highest flood ever known in Greymouth. The residents of the lower town were removed to places of safety. Several cottages were swept out to sea. No further losses in town except garden fences. Several landslips took place on the Grey Valley road. Severe damage to road and railway works. Disastrous news is anticipated from Grey Valley. The flood has now subsided.
Westport, Saturday. A heavy flood took place bere yesterday and to-day at Cobden. The street wbarf w»s carried away, and two ferry punts were carried out over the bar. Four or five acres of the coal quay reserve were washed away. Several small houses were pulled down and removed. The flood U now subsiding. The pile bridge near Charleston wan destroyed on Sunday.
Dunedin, Saturday. Ih the Supreme Court the Judge committed two men for contempt of Court by applauding a prisoner acquitted by the jury on a charge of embezzlement. The value of land in the province is rapidly increasing. Driver, Stewart and Co. sold 3129 acres of land at Awomoko at £3 2s per acre. The land was purchased from the Government two and a half ago at £1 per uore. The Hon J. H. Millar wsi the purchaser. Mr Holloway delivered a long address on immigration last night. Large numbers were present. Ho said that until all the land laws were altered in Otago, he could not advise English labourer* to come out here, aa the squatting interest was too strong. Ho blamed the people themselves for this state of things, and epoke very strongly ngainst the way immigrants were treated on board ship. His address, including answers to questions pnt to him, lasted two hours. A Mr Macpherson present tried to interrupt the proceedings, but was not allowed to addresi the meeting.
Melbourne, April 7. The second batch of elections resulted in the unopposed return of four members, including the Solicitor-General Hartley, Williams, and Barrister. The son of the Judge opposses the Attorney-General with prospects of success. Iho Treasurer's return is also doubtful. The general impression it that the Ministry cannot last, for if it obtains a majority on the constitutional question it will be so imall as to be worthless. The barque Ecliptic, coal laden, from Nowcastle to Melbourne, has been totally wrecked on the CHppsland coast. Captain Eldridge and nine lives were lost. Only one lad saved after being four hours in the water. Only two bodies recovered. None of the wreck seen. Southnm, of Grevmoutb, a passenger per Ottgo, died on the vessel reaching port and before landing. Muher has been arrested and remanded for perjury in the Buckley will case. The Biahop of Nelson and Mrs Souter are passenger* by the mail.
Sydney, April 7. Parliament pasted the estimates, and adjourned for the holidays. The Flintshire has arriyed with the Torres' Straits mail. At the Rnndwick Autumn Meeting yestnrday, the St Leger was a splendid race— Tait's Sylvia colt and Eoso d' Amour first ami second, Fitz-Yattenden third, a head behind the QuTernor's colt. Kingsborough won the Champagne Stalws, Myrtle the Doncaster Handicap.
Brisbane, April 7, The Treasurer's budget lias been submitted. The general tendency of the tariff is protective. Ad valorem duties are to be struck out where practicable. They will abolish duties on New Zealand flax. Large numbers are arriving at the Endeavour River.

Rochefort and others were allowed to go on a fishing exoursion. Went on board the barque P. C. E. They remained stowed in the lazaret te until clear of land, and then discovered themselves.
