Wellington, Tuesday. H;M.s. Blanohe left Wellington on the 19th February, and reached Auckland Island on the 26th. Remained at Port Eoss till the second Mnrch. Visited, repaired, and painted store-houses. Steamed round the island, looking for signs of shipwrecKed seamen. Left on the sth and went to Campbell Island ; anchored in Perseverance harbour, and found the French war transport Havre had \ left thereon the Ist January. Proviiions were everywhere found to be in a good state of preservation. Sailed for Wellington on the 9th. While at Auckland and Campbell Islands several severe storms of snow and. hail were experienced. New Plymouth likely to be the next place the Blanche visits. She is expected to leave to-morrow. It is reported that the difficulty between the General and Provincial Governments regarding the balance of the appropriated £50,000, and the duties of anditor are in process of arrangement. ' Mr Trarers' application to make absolute the rule for mandamus to compel auditor to perform his duty aud certify warrants hat been postponed till to-morrow. Jfew Plymouth, Tuesday. The Provincial Council opened yesterday. It was decided that the Superintendent should not sit in Council. The Superintendent says in his speech that tho population has increased 21 per cent, since last census. Parikaka meeting commences to-day. The Maid of Otago, when entering' Waitotara river during tho heavy gale of Saturday, had her rudder carried away, which caused her to ground on the North Spit inside the | bar. Her cargo is being got out, when sho will probably be got off. The Maid is from Picton, with, timber) for the Waitura railway.
