TENDERS will be received at the Public Works office, Auckland, until noon on Friday, 6th March next, foi the supply and delivery at Mercer or Meremore and Ran^iriu of 10,000 Railway Sleepers for the Waikato Extension Railway. The tenders must be addressed to the Resident Engineer, and marked " Tender for Sleepers." Specifications, general conditions, and form of tender may now be seen at tbe Public Works offices, at Newcattle and Auckland. TERMS OF PAYMENT. One-fourth of the purchase money in cash onthe fall of tho hammer ; the remainder at or bofore the expiration of three calendar months fvoin the day of sale, to be paid at the office of the Officer in Charge of Confiscated Lands, Patea. By clause 18 of tho Confiscated Land Regulations, in the event of tho second payment not being made as aforesaid, the sale will be void and tho deposit forfeited. The Rural Sections in the Patea District include portion ; of the Kiitlway Roserve, which is a strip of country situated ; in tho hoart of tho settlement, extending from Patea to WaingoDgoro and Ketomare. The reserve is traversod by an excellent metalled road, and bridges have been erected, or aro in course of construction, whore necessary, on the whole lino from Wanganui to New Plymouth. The surveyed line of railway ruus parallel with and in some places through the reserve. . , .i, Tho settlement of the district has- progressed rapidly dunne the last few months, and tho sections now ottered comprise nearly all available lands at tbe disposal of ■Government between the edge of the bush and the sea coast. A few bush sections aro also offered for sale, affording an opportunity to settlers in tho open lands too obtain timbpr for fenoing and other purposes.
